DreamLull

Why It Works

Breathing is the fastest door to calm.

Most sleep aids ask your mind to relax first, hoping your body follows. DreamLull works the other way: it gives your body a rhythm to follow, and your mind catches up.

The Science

Your body knows
how to fall asleep.
DreamLull reminds it.

Rhythmic breathing at 8 breaths per minute activates the parasympathetic nervous system — the body's “rest and digest” mode. Within minutes, heart rate slows, cortisol drops, and the body prepares for deep sleep. DreamLull's chest motion gives your nervous system a physical anchor to follow, without a screen, without an app, without a subscription.

The mechanism, in plain terms

Your autonomic nervous system runs on two main modes: sympathetic (“fight or flight”) and parasympathetic (“rest and digest”). Anxiety, screens, and stress keep most people stuck in the sympathetic mode well past bedtime.

Slow, rhythmic breathing — especially around 6–10 breaths per minute — is one of the few voluntary actions that directly signals the parasympathetic system to take over. DreamLull's chest motion is tuned to 8 breaths per minute, a rate widely used in clinical breathing-based anxiety interventions.

Holding or resting against something that physically moves at that rhythm gives your own breathing a pattern to entrain to — without needing to consciously count breaths or follow an app.
